Greetings everyone! It’s springtime now, but not in the northern Ontario, Canadian wilderness. The leaves are starting to change colour, it’s damp, getting cooler and getting harder and harder for those brave survivalists. With that being said, it’s time to find out if anyone gets Extracted this week!
It’s the eighth episode now, titled, “Swim For Your Life”. If the title is anything to go by, it looks like the survivalists are going for a plunge!
I speak in spoiler font, so if you haven’t watched the episode yet—and don’t want to be spoiled…look away now! There’s spoilers ahead!

The episode begins on day eighteen. There are five survivalists left. They are; Polly, RJ, Rhoman, Doug and Luke. As if Luke read my mind, Luke wonders how many of the others are left. Polly is rationing water because she only has two matches left. Doug’s hurting everywhere. Rhoman lost his fishing hook.

Daniel and David think this is the perfect time for them to set their plan of putting the fake clue into motion so Rhoman gives up his fire. They really think he’ll quit. I don’t think so, but that’s just me. He had fire and food already. Why would he give that up for the same thing? I could be wrong though, because I didn’t think Dallas would fall for this, which it seems like he did. I really don’t know anymore. 🤷🏼♀️
Daniel asks Dallas to play cards and when they clear off the table, Dallas finds the fake clue. Daniel acts shocked. Dallas goes to their family’s room to decipher the “clue” using Morse code. He tells Lyndsey he thinks they should do it.

Meanwhile, Daniel lets everybody in HQ know Dallas found a clue, so Dallas can’t deny finding one, and he can claim innocence. Which is actually smart strategy. I hate to say it, but his evil grin and devilish strategy is starting to warm my cold petty heart. I still like RJ and Rhoman’s families better though. Daniel’s just a villain you love to hate.
It’s time for a survival trial. Each family chooses an item from the supply room their loved ones need the most. Then they have to form two teams. One team will have three pairs, instead of two. During the survival trial, the teams’ survivalists will compete against each other by swimming out to the middle of the lake, where they’ll have to untie their bag of supplies. The first survivalist to get their bag free will win all of their supplies.

The first pair to compete are Luke vs Rhoman. The two strongest players. Rhoman bumped his knee on something, so it slowed him down. Luke gets to the bags and unties his bag first. He wins Rhoman’s bag too. Double the fishing line, double the fun! 🤪 I guess it’s good if he loses the other one or something.
In the second round, Polly, Doug and RJ compete against each other doing the same thing. Doug is like a speed swimmer or something and not only reaches the bags, he gets it untied first. He wins RJ’s and Polly’s bags too. So he’s got fire on top of fire now.
Lyndsey and Dallas leave HQ, and Bailey has this wild idea. She and her mom take great pleasure in changing the Morse Codes, so Rhoman’s family won’t be able to figure out the clue. Daniel and David see this and have to explain to them that this is a fake clue, and that if they change the clue, it will ruin their plans. Molly and Bailey compliment Daniel on this plan and on his acting skills. Somehow, finding out Daniel went to acting school—doesn’t surprise me in the least.
Back in camp, Luke and Doug try out their new supplies to great …correction, Luke’s success. Doug’s burner almost burned the forest down because it was turned up too high. His can of beans dumped all over the ground too. It was like watching a train wreck. Perhaps, Doug winning fire was the worst thing ever. Or best…depending on whether you like watching train wrecks or not. I personally do. 🍿

Makala and Tanisha, who had been in HQ when Molly and Bailey were trying to mess with the Morse code book, tell Lyndsey and Dallas about what they did. Lyndsey is upset because they were going through their personal belongings. (Oh, I get that. Bailey and Molly would wake up to shaved heads if it were me.) It’s an invasion of privacy.
Doug is literally Goldilocks, when bears come up to him in camp. They got so close, they were social distancing (six feet). Doug’s son is literally yelling, “Doug, wake up!” multiple times, as if Doug can hear him. Doug wakes up and blows his horn just in time. He could’ve used bear mace the bears were that close. They must’ve smelled the beans he spilled.

Lyndsey confronts Bailey about going through their things. Lyndsey asks whose idea was it to change the code? Things get heated. David and Daniel see this as a sign Rhoman’s family believe the clue is real. They chuckle at the fact their plan is working.
Makala tells Bailey she’s disappointed in her, because she knows that she’s a good person. She listened to a snake (Daniel), and “when you lay down with dogs, you get fleas.” Bailey just rolls her eyes.
In the middle of the night, Tanisha decides to search HQ for anything that might be helpful for them. She finds a clue stuck on the back of the extraction button. She brings it back to Makala. It’s the Intercept Card. This card allows them to intercept another family’s supply drop. (Please use it on Luke, 🙏🏻) I want to see Daniel and David’s heads explode.

In the next survival trial, they will get the chance to speak to their survivalists. David and Daniel think this is the perfect opportunity for Lyndsey and Dallas to pass along the “clue” to Rhoman.
The families in HQ each get a crate. Some have opportunities to speak to their loved ones and some have nothing. They have to decide whether or not they keep the crate or trade it with another family’s.
Molly and Bailey trade with Doug’s sons. They get an empty crate with a gruelling navigational journey. Makala and Tanisha trade with Molly and Bailey, giving up an empty crate that you have to navigate to find a hidden crate. David and Daniel give Lyndsey and Dallas a thirty second video message. 👀 And in return they get a one minute satellite phone call. Doug’s sons choose to keep their crate with the letter and bushwhacking.

After the survivalists are on their way, RJ says if he gets an empty crate again, he wants out. Makala had wanted to use their intercept card, but Tanisha talked her out of it. So, after RJ says he’s done, she’s upset. She knew they should’ve used it.
Rhoman finds his crate and watches Dallas and Lyndsey pass on the “clue’s” message. If he gives up his fire making supplies, he’ll get fire, food and water after twenty-four hours.

YOU ALREADY HAVE FIRE AND WATER!!! WHY DO YOU NEED TO GIVE IT UP IN ORDER TO GET IT?! Sorry for shouting, but the clue doesn’t make sense! If the prize was better, then maybe I can see falling for it, but this…SMH.

Everyone at HQ watches as Rhoman places his fire making supplies into the crate and put it by the water.
Luke’s brothers are so happy, they went outside.

And that’s the end of the episode. In the preview, it looks like Lyndsey finds out the clue was fake, because she accused David and Daniel of making her waste her video message on it, instead of a real message. 🍿
