The Traitors US: Leap of Faith

Greetings everyone! I’ve been feeling better, so I’m catching up on the recaps I haven’t done yet. One of those recaps is The Traitors US Season Four finale titled “Leap of Faith”! I know everyone probably knows who won by now, so this is basically me sharing my thoughts on it.

However, not everyone around the world has seen it yet, so I’m still going to warn you about spoilers! If you don’t want to know, don’t scroll!

You may remember they left us on a major cliffhanger where someone was about to be murdered in front of everyone. There was a coffin laying in the middle of a circle of charcoal.

Soooo…which faithful met their fate? If you guessed the unbanishable Mark, you would be correct! He danced his last dance as he climbed into the coffin, which Alan slammed closed, as Maura says, “savage”. The ring of fire lit up the night. The rest mourned his passing, as they watched. RIP Mark! He says at least he went out in a blaze of glory. Cue Jon Bon Jovi singing that song from Young Guns 2.

This is the final murder of the season. Everyone else will live to see the finale.

Nice hair, don’t care.

The next morning at the last breakfast, they reflected on the past season and their own roles in the game. They toast Mark. They mention how he’s a great dancer, and Rob adds that he has nice hair.

Alan comes in and reminds them they won’t know their true identity from here on out and if a traitor is still in the game at the end, they will win all of the money. Right now they have a total of $180,800! More will be added after the final mission, “let’s end with a splash, shall we?” A chorus of groans. It’s going to be wet and cold, they figure.

I’m speechless.

Johnny wishes they had listened to Natalie when they had the chance. Candiace had left them bread crumbs. He thinks the traitors are Eric and Rob. Now you realize this. When you are pretty much powerless to do anything about it. I don’t know if I want to throw something at my TV or scream in frustration. Now they want to get Maura to vote with them.

Meanwhile, Rob is seventy percent sure Maura is going to vote with him. He wants Johnny out first.

Tara pulls Maura aside and tells her she thinks Eric’s a traitor. She brings up a few good points about how Eric never says anything. Maura says, “I don’t want to tink too much, my brain can’t handle much more.”

Maura reminds me of Kelly Bundy from Married With Children, who can only hold so much info inside her brain and when more info is added, other info leaves. Kelly loses a game show on a question about her own father, that Al (her father) mentions over and over, because it’s literally the only thing he takes pride in. She should know it, but she can’t remember because too much new info has been added. 🙃

Eric wonders if Tara and Johnny are trying to flip Maura. Rob says, probably. Either Maura’s doing a really good job lying to him, or they’re good.

It’s time for the last mission! A helicopter shows up and Rob and Maura climb on. They are given a chest to take with them. Along the way, Maura tells Rob she tinks Eric’s a traitor, and she tinks they need to take him out. Rob doesn’t like hearing this. If Eric is banished, it gives Tara and Johnny the upper hand.

Meanwhile, Tara and Johnny ask Eric what he thinks about Rob and Maura being traitors? Eric, as usual doesn’t really have a good answer, so Johnny and Tara give each other a look.

The look

They arrive at the loch. Johnny, Tara and Eric have to drive a boat out to four buoys. Each buoy has a chest with a question on it. Together, with Rob and Maura, they have to guess the correct answer and attach it to an amount of money on a flotation device. If they get the answer right, they earn that money. Then they grab that bag of money out of the chest on the buoy and go to the next one. They have forty-five minutes to get all the answers in.

They got all four questions correct with five minutes and twenty seconds left to go! But wait! They can add more money! Someone from the helicopter (Rob) has to jump from the helicopter into the loch. (This is where Leap Of Faith comes in.) He then has to swim to a flotation device and grab another bag, swim to shore and reach a chest within the five minutes and twenty seconds! Rob completes this with seconds to spare and they’ve now reached a total of $220,800 in their prize pot!

Time for the last banishment of the game! Eric brings up how there’s two players from Love Island and two from the Olympics. He’s in the middle. But actually, we know there’s two traitors and two Olympians, with Maura in the middle. Suspicion is placed on Johnny and Eric. I won’t go into details too much, but Maura is the swing vote. Whoever she votes for gets banished. She eventually sticks by Rob’s side, and votes Johnny out.

Maura tells Rob she trusts him. He trusts her. He tells her they need to go for Tara next. But she wants him to promise to banish Eric, because he’s a traitor. Rob deflects, telling her they’re going to win this game. At this point, he doesn’t care if Maura thinks Eric’s a traitor or not. He just needs her to vote out Tara.

Meanwhile, Tara is trying to convince Maura, both Eric and Rob are traitors. Maura’s like:

It’s time for the fire of truth! As you may or may not know, each player has two pouches in a chest. One says “end game” (shows up green in the fire). And the other says “banish again” (shows up red in the fire). Even if one player chooses banish again, they vote to banish a player. They keep going until either everyone chooses to end the game or until there’s only two players left.

In the first round, everyone chooses to banish again. They banish Tara.

In the next round, Eric chooses to end the game, while both Maura and Rob choose to banish again. Eric is shocked. He really didn’t think Rob would turn on him. They’re fellow traitors after all. Rob says he made a pinky promise and intends to keep it. (Yeah, and keep all of the money for himself too.) Eric wonders why Maura has never questioned Rob in the game. This gets Maura tinking, but not good enough. Eric is banished. He wouldn’t have been able to cross that line.

It’s down to Rob and Maura. The game has now ended. They have to reveal if they’re faithful or traitor. Maura, trying to be funny, says she’s sorry but…she’s a faithful. Hahaha. This is a train wreck…it’s so hard knowing what’s coming.

Rob reveals he’s a traitor and Maura becomes a meme. Bless.

She feels stupid. He tells her she shouldn’t. He’s an asshole.

“You embarrassed me!” She tells him to stop talking. He’s a good liar. She says he’s a snake but good job on winning the game. As far as reactions goes…Maura’s are 👩‍🍳💋 But she also seems to get over it rather quickly too. Which is how it should be. At the end of the day…it’s a game for money, and it’s nothing to take personally.

Alan and Rob go outside to collect the money. Alan tells him he’s one of the best traitors they’ve ever had and shows off the lights on his cloak. Fireworks go off and that’s the end of the game!

Congrats to Rob on his well-deserved win!! 👏🏻🎉 I think his game winning move was getting rid of all of the gamers early. He had so many tells, that a gamer was more likely to spot. That was key to his successful game play. Next, was distancing himself from Lisa and Candiace when they had targets on their backs. And lastly, keeping players around like Maura and Eric…people who would never cross him…kept the numbers on his side, even when there was suspicions on him.

I still think Cirie’s a better traitor though…because she never ever had suspicions on her once. But Rob is right up there.

FYI: I’ve decided not to recap the reunion, even though it is entertaining and dramatic. 🍿 It’s definitely must see tv! It’s basically a recap of the season—so why recap a recap? Besides, I’m so far behind on my shows, I figure it’s just too much for me to handle. Sorry, about that…if you were looking forward to it.
