The Traitors UK: “Struggling Up That Hill”

It’s hard to believe, but it’s time for the penultimate episode of The Traitors UK season four! The next episode is the finale. What a great season it’s been! This show and this game keeps getting better and better every season!

For having so few people left, this episode keeps on giving. Let’s get to it, shall we?

As per usual if you haven’t watched the episode yet and don’t want to be spoiled…don’t scroll past this point! There are spoilers ahead!

The episode begins with the traitors, Rachel and Stephen up in the conclave, giving each other a pep talk about how it’s only a game. They can do it. Stephen repeats his concerns about Rachel saying she may have to put his name out there.

The next morning at breakfast, Jack and Stephen are the first to arrive. Stephen asks about Faraaz bringing up Rachel’s name the night before and what he said. Jack tells him Faraaz thinks that Harriet was right about Rachel and that the Fiona vs Rachel fight was traitor on traitor violence.

James and Jade arrive next. James feels so bad about sending home Matthew, a faithful. He thinks Roxy is a traitor now. I’m like how? She’s the most obvious faithful! His reads are totally off, but it’s entertainment.

Last to arrive are Rachel and Faraaz. Roxy has been, unfortunately, murdered. Flashback to the night before, Rachel tells Stephen, Roxy won’t be banished and they can’t drag her along.

When Roxy received her you have been murdered parchment, she says she hopes Rachel and Stephen take it all. She hopes they haven’t lied to her.

James says he could tell Roxy wasn’t a traitor, there’s no doubt in his mind, but spoiler alert he’s not that good at this game. At least he owns it. Rachel says he could be an evil genius.

Claudia comes in and tells them tomorrow is the final. At tonight’s round table, it’s the last time they’ll be able to find out if they banished a faithful or a traitor. She says Roxy was so close, but so dead. Are they sad for Roxy? You know who else would be saddened by Roxy’s murder? Her mom…Judy! They’re in shock! Claudia tells them she knows sometimes this game can feel like an uphill struggle and on that note…bye!

But now their conversations with Judy and Roxy about adoption make sense.

Later, Jack, Stephen and Jade discuss how Rachel and James could be traitors. Why didn’t Stephen think it before? Jack says either James is a really good traitor or a terrible faithful. Faraaz thinks one of Jade, Rachel and Stephen are traitors. Rachel interrupts their convo. Things are awkward until she tells them she’s a fan of Columbo. And I was like, what?

Mission time! They head on up to the Fyrish Monument, built in 1782, near Evanton, Scotland. This is a tourist attraction if you like to walk uphill to the top of a mountain. I’m exhausted just watching the players complete this mission. It looks exhausting!

Along the way, they have to collect gold rocks from shrines dedicated to the murdered faithful. They bring the gold rocks up to the top of the mountain at the monument, where they have to fill a shield. If they fill the shield within the time limit (forty-five minutes) and everyone is at the top of the mountain when time expires, they will add £10,000 to the prize pot. If they successfully complete this mission, they will cancel the murder for that night.

James, wanting to ensure they complete the mission – very quickly – only makes himself look even more suspicious. Rachel lets him because it looks like he’s sabotaging the mission instead of her.

They succeed at the mission, earning £10,000! There will be no murder that night!

The traitors’, probably.

Back at the castle, talk revolves around James and Rachel, and how they think they’re traitors. Stephen included. Anything to keep suspicion off him, but he had hoped he and Rachel could go to the end together.

Later, at the round table, Claudia tells them their prize pot is now worth £76,750. And there’s no murder that night. This is the last time they’ll find out if the banished player is a traitor or faithful.

Jack confronts Rachel about Harriet, and how she suspected her of being a traitor. She caught Hugo. It’s something he’s forgotten about until now. James adds, how he thinks Rachel and Harriet were the best two players in the game. He’s just got this feeling about her. Rachel defends herself, saying why would she vote Harriet out? Why would she murder Roxy? Why would she leave herself alone there for questioning? They ask her about Matthew and how she trusted him the most. She wondered if she was still there because Matthew wanted her there? Her gut was wrong. Faraaz asks if Matthew was still there, would she trust him? She says no, no offence, but she doesn’t trust any of them. Jade thinks Rachel gave the dagger to James, because she knew he would vote for Matthew. Rachel says if she was a traitor, she would’ve kept the dagger for herself.

Stephen shifts the focus from Rachel back on to James. Rachel calls James a mastermind. He confuses her the most. James says he’s an open book. Stephen asks Jade why she changed her vote last night at the round table? Jade says she was confused and James kept interrupting her trying to have a conversation with Matthew. Faraaz brings up the Rachel vs Fiona fight to Rachel. She says she didn’t start any of that. She caught her in a lie and Fiona knew she was going to come after her for that. Rachel asks everyone who was in a cage? They all raise their hands. Who came back out of chance? It was Stephen. Why does he think he came back? He thinks it’s because he was protecting Fiona, so she brought him back.

It’s time to vote! It comes down to a tie between James and Rachel. They vote again, except James and Rachel can’t vote. It’s still tied, even though Jack and Jade change their votes. It all comes down to chance. Claudia brings out the Chests of Chance. One is empty and one contains a shield. Whoever receives the shield is safe. The other is banished.

Claudia tells them to open their chest in three…two…one…

CLIFFHANGER!!!

Welp! That’s it for this episode! Good thing we don’t have to wait long for the last and final episode of the season!

I don’t know who will get banished, because it’s literally luck of the draw, but I will say Rachel has had tremendous luck this season, even though she has had some suspicion placed upon her. I think it’s going to come to an end.

What do you think? Who do you think will get banished? Please feel free to share your thoughts below!

Until the next time… ✌🏻
