I’m so sorry it’s taken a couple of days for this recap. It was a busy weekend! Plus, it’s harder to do when you’re doing two shows at once! I wish they would’ve timed this out a little bit better. But better late than never, am I right?
It’s time for another recap of The Traitors UK! We’re somehow already at episode nine! 😳 That means there’s only three episodes left! These seasons really need to be longer, IMO.
As usual, I speak in spoiler font, so if you haven’t watched this episode yet, look away now! There’s SPOILERS ahead!

The episode begins with Rachel and Stephen discussing who to murder out of Matthew, Faraaz and Jessie. Stephen’s game is at risk if they murder Jessie, because she’s been leading the charge of getting Stephen banished.
The next morning at breakfast, Roxy, Jack and James are the first to arrive. They are excited to see some smoked salmon, which isn’t weird, except on The Traitors US they were obsessed with it too.
We find out Jessie is murdered. When Jessie gets the news she’s been murdered, she reveals she doesn’t think Stephen is a traitor anymore. Excuse me, what? She was literally leading the charge against him! I don’t understand and she explained it too.

Of course, everyone is saddened to see Jessie go. She was truly a faithful. Everyone knew it. This was the only way for her to go. Matthew (bless his heart) thinks the traitors have lived up to their part of their bargain (to murder Jessie) and now he thinks he’ll be recruited tomorrow night. He plans to throw another traitor under the bus after he becomes a traitor and finds out who they are.
Claudia comes in and tells them that if they want to catch a traitor, they have to think “outside the box”. Whatever that means.
Rachel thinks she knows who a traitor is. She thinks they made a mistake last night. Haha, not really. She’s just trying to trip them up in order to protect Stephen.
Matthew thinks it’d be stupid to kill Jessie because it points directly at Stephen. Ellie wonders, would it though? Jack trusts Stephen and Jade the most. He tells them whoever the traitor is, is protecting him and he’s only there because that person is keeping him there. Stephen realizes he might have made a really big mistake in the game by murdering Jessie.
It’s mission time! Off they go to think “outside the box”. “Outside the box” isn’t what I’d think of when I see what they have to do for the mission. I think it’s more like Jack in the Box. In fact, they play the music for Jack in the Box or Pop Goes The Weasel. They have to climb into a box and answer questions. They have to match the answers with the answers the traitors provided. For each correct answer, they’ll get £250 added to the prize pot. The trick is the traitors haven’t answered the questions yet.
While everyone is inside their boxes, the traitors will secretly come out of their boxes, answer the question, then climb back inside their boxes again. If someone has really good hearing they might be able to hear them. But don’t worry, there’s a drummer going from box to box, making it harder for the faithfuls to hear.
Claudia tells the group,
If you think this is really risky for the traitors, you’d be right.
Rachel and Stephen are worried their answers and lack of gracefulness will give them away. It’s really scary for them. They wished they had gotten some kind of forewarning for this. Haha…do you know what show you’re on? I think Claudia derives some kind of sick thrill out of this.
When the traitor’s answer is revealed; a giant traitor, holding the answer card the traitors picked, pops up from the box after Claudia cranks the handle. Exactly like a Jack in the Box would. So, a Traitor in the Box?

They managed to add £3, 250 to the prize pot, out of £9,000. Rachel and Stephen purposely got a few questions wrong (the faithfuls would never pick the same answer), to hide their identities.
Ellie, Matthew and Faraaz noticed that Stephen got a lot of questions right. Either he’s a traitor or he’s a really good faithful. Ellie thinks Jessie was really perceptive so was she right?
Faraaz thinks Ellie’s a traitor. Ellie isn’t happy because first, suspicion was on her because she wasn’t talking and now that she is, it’s suspicious. She can’t win.
At the round table, Ellie goes first. She brings up Jade. There’s been so much suspicion on her. Jade says she’s being framed. She thinks Ellie and Matthew are both trying to frame her. She also thinks it’s funny how she’s been getting heat from the beginning, but there’s others there who haven’t. Why is that?
James and Matthew get into it. Matthew thinks it’s weird how Jack and James have voted identically the entire time. Roxy brings up Stephen, but tells him she doesn’t think he’s a traitor. She’s just trying to clear it up in her own mind. She’s glad she got some clarity. Rachel brings it back to Ellie. She found it odd how she was wanting to hang out with her, when she didn’t before. Ellie says that she just wanted to because Jessie’s gone.
Faraaz tells Ellie that he finds it odd that she snapped at him earlier and then she said the exact same thing to Jade now. Matthew again goes after Jade. She’s obviously upset. She’s never seen anybody go through what she has had to during other round tables.
Ellie is banished. She reveals she entered the castle with another person…her boyfriend, Ross. She was honest about what’s important…she’s a faithful. Claudia tells them there’s no murder that night. And because that round table was so hard on everyone, she’s throwing them a dinner party. There’ll be lots of cheese there. They get to dress up and everything.
Stephen is shocked he never had a vote against him. Everybody is comforting Jade. She’s at the point where she cracked. She’s resilient but she’s still there.
On the way to the party, Claudia tells us dessert is going to come with a sting in its tail. You have to know by now that for every good thing, there’s something bad on this show. At the party, they realize Ross and Ellie rarely spent any time together, but they did arrive on the same train. There’s only eight players now.

They each share what they’ll do with the money. They tell each other about their lives and remind themselves of why they’re doing this. I’m not going to go into details, but they have very touching stories and you should watch. Make sure you have a Kleenex handy! ALL THE TINKLY PIANOS! (IYKYK, but it’s a BB thing about touching segments.)
Claudia interrupts their stories. None of them are happy to see her. (Would you? She usually brings bad news.) She tells them they should be proud of themselves. There’s no murder, but the traitors will still be busy. She pulls out a dagger. It’s called the “ceremonial dagger”. She stabs the table with it.

Whoever has the dagger will have two votes. The traitors decide who gets it. Claudia takes the dagger because it’s dangerous and the traitors will need it later. Claudia’s going to chop some cheese with it. She leaves. Everyone is shell-shocked.
The traitors go into the hidden speak easy room. There’s photos of each player laid out on a table. Having two votes when there’s so few people left is huge. Of course, we don’t see who they pick, but the camera angle of Rachel stabbing with the dagger is a menacing sight. Now we have to wait until the next batch of episodes drop to find out who they picked!

I think they picked one of the traitors (Rachel and Stephen), to ensure they have control over who goes next.
