The Traitors UK: “Smoke & Mirrors”

It’s time for another of my The Traitors UK recaps! A lot happens this episode, which is already the sixth one this season. Can you believe it? We are literally halfway through the season.

We have a lot to cover, so I should probably get right to it. Again, I felt the need to make up a title for this episode. I hope it makes more sense by the end of this recap.

If you have an aversion to spoilers and haven’t watched this episode yet – look away now and come back after you have!

The episode begins where we left off, with the three traitors up in the conclave giving each other looks.

This is all paraphrased because sometimes that’s easier.

Stephen’s the first to ask, what the f*ck was that? Rachel says, don’t look at me, I didn’t start it. Fiona says, Stephen’s name is always coming up and I haven’t seen you (Rachel) defend him once. Rachel tells both Stephen and Fiona, that’s not true she has, but she can’t push too much. She reminds Stephen she promised him she wouldn’t write his name down, but she didn’t promise that to Fiona. Rachel tells Fiona that she threw the grenade at our team. She’s the one playing a solo game. Stephen tells them it was so over the top, he thought they’d planned it. But now Fiona’s name is on everybody’s lips.

They start talking about who is available to be murdered. Sam, Reece, Jade, Ellie, Matthew, Faraaz, Stephen and Fiona.

Fiona says they can’t murder her. Rachel replies, “are you sure? Because I kinda want to murder you right now.” 🤣🤣🤣

Fiona is excited to write their murder victim’s name down. It’s her first official murder. Rachel adds, “might be your last too.”

The next morning at breakfast, Rachel wastes no time at all, talking about Fiona and what happened the night before with other people before Fiona gets there. Fiona knows right away that Rachel had been talking about her.

We eventually find out Reece has been murdered. They murdered him because at the last round table, he cemented himself as a faithful.

It’s time for another mission, with the players forming three teams. There’s red, green and blue. The green team has the most players on it that people suspect as traitors.

Each team has to take a different trail through the woods. Every so often, they’ll find a mirror. They have to answer the questions the mirrors ask about players who are still in the game. The answers are from the results of a questionnaire they filled out the night before.

For each correct answer, £500 will be added to the pot, with a maximum amount totaling £6000. The winning team with the most correct answers in the fastest time will be able to enter the Walled Garden. In the Walled Garden, three people can win a power…to be able to talk to the traitors.

The blue team (Rachel, Harriet, Roxy, Matthew and Faraaz) wins because they were the fastest team! Inside the Walled Garden, there are five mirrors. They each take a hammer to break the mirror, if smoke comes out, they get to talk to the traitors. If smoke doesn’t come out, they don’t get to talk to a traitor.

Harriet, Matthew and Rachel each get to talk to the traitors. Individually, they get to ask two questions. The traitors may or may not tell the truth.

The group decides not to say anything to the other groups about what they won.

Jessie and Stephen talk about how she suspects him, but there were other people in the room. Don’t have tunnel vision.

Stephen thinks if Fiona leaves, the suspicion on him will fade away.

During the round table, Rachel brings up Fiona. They go back and forth calling each other liars. Fiona accuses Rachel of being a traitor.

Traitor on traitor violence. My fave.

Sam and Jade are also brought up. During voting, both Rachel and Stephen were shocked when Fiona votes for Sam, instead of Rachel.

Fiona is banished. She says Rachel is a formidable opponent. That’s why she didn’t vote for her. Rachel deserves to win. The faithfuls celebrate when Fiona reveals she’s a traitor.

Even Claudia was saying, “what a woman.” In regards to Fiona. She breaks the news that there will not be a murder that night, because some of them won the chance to talk to a traitor.

Harriet reveals she knows Rachel is a traitor and that was traitor on traitor violence. She refuses to give Rachel any hint of what she’s going to ask the traitors.

Later that night, Matthew and Harriet get to ask two questions of the traitors. Matthew asks who is going to be murdered next and why?

They reply on paper they’re going to kill Jessie because she’s flying under the radar.

Matthew’s next offer/question (paraphrased) is: if Claudia asks them to seduce, will they refuse and murder Jessie instead? And when they are given the opportunity again to recruit, will they recruit him? Do we have a deal?

And…cliffhanger! We have to wait until next Thursday for any more episodes! 😭😭😭

I thought Fiona was a hoot, but too emotional. I think she was jealous of Rachel’s position in the game and wanted that for herself. She broke a major traitor rule by announcing to people that Rachel is a traitor. You’re supposed to not reveal your fellow traitors’ identities. Overall, I’m glad she’s gone because she’s too messy for this game. But I think she’d be so entertaining if she were cast on a different show.

Do you think the traitors will agree to Matthew’s deal? What do you think Harriet will ask?

Until the next time…✌🏻
