Guess who’s baaaack? It’s the fourth season of The Traitors US! If you’re a fan of the global phenomenon like I am, we’re in heaven right now!

The first three episodes dropped on January 8th! I was deliberating with myself on whether or not I should recap all three episodes in one post, or if I should do each episode separately, like I do with The Traitors UK.
After a lot of arguing back and forth with myself, I decided I’m going to post each episode separately. If I recapped all three at once, it’d be a novel. I’m wordy enough as it is, I didn’t want a loooooong post – which would really bore you. I don’t want to do that.
That being said, the first episode is titled, “Let The Cards Fall As They Will”. Hmm…if that’s not a sign of things to come, I don’t know what is.
As usual, if you haven’t watched the episodes yet and don’t want to be spoiled, look away now and come back later.

The episode begins with Alan Cummings being delightfully devilish, playing with Tarot cards no less. We’re introduced to the cast and see them arriving at the castle.
We (and the players) are greeted with an explosive light show, that lights up the night. The players greet each other. Some, recognizing each other, while some don’t know who anybody is.
Alan tells us that he has a secret that not even we (the viewer) will know. He tells the players he’s going to pick a traitor right now. A secret traitor. The players each go one at a time and Alan shows them a Tarot card inside of the box. Whoever gets shown The Traitor card is the traitor. We viewers don’t get to see who gets the traitor card. Booo…
I’m sorry for my perverted mind, but when I saw Alan holding the box, my first thoughts were of this skit. 😁 Yes, I’m sick and twisted.

They enter the castle and start speculating on who the secret traitor is. We have a lot of smaller groups scattered around the castle.
Finally it’s time for the Round Table where the other traitors are picked. The known traitors are; Candiace (RHOP), Lisa (RHOBH) and Rob R (Love Island). A very non gamer group. It’ll be interesting to see how well they murder this season. I don’t think it’ll be very strategic.
After the round table, Tiffany (BB23) and others are told by Michael Rapaport that there’s five housewives and five gamers on the cast so there must be a traitor in each group. Tiffany realizes the gamers (Tiffany, Natalie, Yam Yam, Ian and Rob C.) must form an alliance.
Candiace, not knowing Lisa is a fellow traitor, is telling others she thinks Lisa is a traitor because she’d run her grandma over with a car. 😬 (She said this jokingly, hopefully.)
Later on up in the turret, the traitors meet for the first time! Lisa and Candiace are happy they’re both traitors. This is the first time there’s two housewives chosen as traitors. Rob R arrives and they ask him if he wanted to be a traitor. He tells them yes, he did. Candiace tells Lisa how she was telling others she’s a traitor, but don’t worry, she’ll fix it.

Alan arrives and tells them about the secret traitor twist. They won’t know who the secret traitor is and they can only murder someone on the shortlist the secret traitor comes up with. Very similar to The Traitors UK. But the secret traitor doesn’t know who they are either.
My concern with this is, what if the secret traitor puts one of the traitors on the shortlist? What happens then? They just pick one of the other people mentioned? And what if the secret traitor puts all three traitors on the shortlist? Scenarios, you know. I like the UK’s version of the secret traitor better.
Eventually, they’ll be given a chance to unite with the secret traitor.
For tonight, there wont be a murder.
After Alan leaves, they vow not to backstab each other. “Traitors for life!”
The first mission is similar to the UK’s. The one with the coffins out on the water…? You know the one…

Same twist. Rob C is already getting annoyed at the non gamers for not thinking strategically. Michael Rapaport is pissed there’s a coffin in his grave.
And I’m just like this:

They managed to add $22,500 to the pot. Nine people are at risk for murder; Ron, Rob R, Mama Kelce, Eric, Michael, Ian, Dorinda, Rob C and Mark Ballas.
Candiace throws Michael under the bus by saying how Michael was targeting the housewives. 😈 I already want him gone. And why he thinks he’s a housewife…beats me. 🤷🏼♀️
When they get back to the castle Porsha confronts Michael, who denies it, then Candiace denies it by saying it didn’t happen that day. Conveniently, Maura, who was also in the car when she said it, has “forgotten”. Like, what? The convo literally just happened!
Monet and Candiace start talking about how Michael is acting like a traitor because of how he’s acting. He’s either a bad traitor or he’s next level traitor. Rob C doesn’t think he’s next level. He gives her this look, as if to say, “are you serious right now?” 🤣

Later on that night, the traitors meet up in the turret to commit their first murder. The shortlist the secret traitor gives them is; Rob R (who is a traitor), Ian, Mark and Eric. Lisa and Candiace wonder why they put Rob R on the shortlist? Who is the secret traitor?
They look at the writing. They think it could be Yam Yam’s. Who would want Rob R murdered?

And that’s the end of the episode! I won’t speculate too much about who they choose to murder, etc. since the next episode is already out.
What did you think of the first episode? Are you happy with who production picked as traitors? Do you have any favourite players so far? Who would you murder, besides Michael, obviously?

Until the next time… ✌🏻
