The Traitors UK Season 4: Episode 1

A New Year…a new me? NO!

Why it’s a brand new season one of my favourite shows, of course! The Traitors UK returns with it’s fourth season – featuring a brand new cast of faithfuls trying to banish those murderous traitors!

I write in spoiler mode, so if you haven’t watched the episode yet, look away now and come back after you’ve watched the episode. (Unless you crave spoilers and must know ahead of time.)

Claudia opens up the season by holding a red cloak in her hands, hinting at a new twist! Can anyone have a more perfectly formed evil grin?

Girl grinning an evil grin.
Most accurate gif of Claudia’s grin.

The cast arrives by train. We have a crime writer. A cyber security consultant. A foster care worker. A teacher. An artist. A personal trainer. A ghost hunter. A former police detective. Just to name a few professions. This season features a non celebrity cast, which can be very entertaining and less performative.

Claudia greets them outside of the castle, joking about how she’s glad they all made it to their destination on the train. HAHA Claudia, you’ve got jokes! (During The Celebrity Traitors UK some weren’t so lucky.)

The traitors are picked and they are: Stephen, Rachel, Hugo and someone else but we don’t see who’s picked. I hate that!

The good news is there’s no murder. The bad news is Claudia teases us about who she picked as the secret traitor. Can we guess? NO, just tell us! GAH!

Everyone’s drinking and speculating on who the traitors are. I love how they read too much into everyone’s reactions post traitor picks every season. That person must be a traitor because they looked sideways and that person didn’t smile…how dare they! Let the speculation and paranoia commence!

After everyone leaves, the new traitors take the traitor vow with Claudia, get their robes and go up to the conclave to meet each other for the first time as fellow traitors.

Shocked faces. Fake smiles. You know, the usual. Already trying to figure out which one of them will get banished first and thinking it won’t be themselves.

Claudia arrives and drops a bomb. The secret traitor will be working with the traitors but not with them. I know that sounds confusing, but the gist is the secret traitor comes up with a shortlist on who to murder and they can only murder someone on this shortlist.

Claudia assures them the secret traitor won’t put themselves on the shortlist or put any of the three known traitors on the shortlist either. The secret traitor knows who they are, but they won’t know who the secret traitor is. The secret traitor is the only one who knows the truth about who is who in the game.

Hugo jokes about how evil Claudia is. Is he new here? She’s always been that way. I love it! Heehee!

Claudia: holding the red, secret traitor’s robe in her hands.

It’s time for the first mission! They have to row a rowboat out to some floating coffins and row the coffin back in and put the coffin in a grave. But…there’s a catch (because of course there is).

A wooden sign that states, to bank the coffin must be placed in a grave. Players with a coffin in their grave will be up for murder tonight. Players with empty graves will be shielded from murder.
The catch from the mission.

Post mission everyone who is up for murder tries to find out who put the coffins into their graves.

Judy is one of the people up for murder. We find out Roxy is her daughter and she is playing the game too. I love hidden family connections between players.

Later on, the traitors meet in the conclave. Rachel is one of the players up for murder but not really because she’s a traitor. Rachel tells them she probably would’ve put herself into the position because it takes suspicion off her. It worked in her favour.

Claudia arrives and tells them the secret traitor narrowed the list of people to murder from ten to three. The shortlist is: James, Netty or Mas. The traitors aren’t happy because none of those people are ones they would’ve picked. (I can already tell this will get messy. 🍿🍿🍿) They think the secret traitor is working against them. They speculate the secret traitor could be Judy or Amanda. Rachel vows to find out who the secret traitor is because she needs to be in control and hates the fact the secret traitor knows more than she does.

The episode ends without finding out who they murder. Or, who the secret traitor is. And we won’t get another episode for a WEEK. Why was there only one episode this week? Usually we get three!

I need the next episode like I need air to breathe!

Before I end this I just wanted to point out how the robes the traitors are wearing this season are kind of Christmasy (red and green). I don’t know why I thought of that or what that means or if I’m just still in holiday mode. (I’m weird that way.) I just thought I’d point it out.

Just my guess-ulation: I think Mas gets murdered. I think that older blonde lady who some were suspicious of during the mission…I don’t remember her name…she had that weird looking grin at the roundtable during traitor selection. The camera kept going back to her and I was wondering why. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I think she could be the secret traitor. But I think it could be Judy too. I don’t know…regardless of who it is, I’m probably wrong.

If you have any thoughts/speculation on who you think the secret traitor is and/or who gets murdered, please feel free to comment below!

Until the next time! ✌🏻
